The Gravity Spot is a social web portal specifically targeted for extreme sport enthusiasts. The site needed standard social media features like photo galleries, streaming video, forums and user profiles, but also needed to provide customers with travel tips, restaurant and hotel recommendations, and magazine features about destinations. Parallactic implemented all the basic site features in a familiar and user-friendly way, then used our programming expertise to go beyond that to deliver a custom experience.

Creating Research and Database Solutions

The Adler Planetarium and Museum came to us with an unsupported, outdated Mac database full of valuable historical correspondences from the life of Sir John Herschel. Searching took 15 minutes and had to be done on a specific computer with special software, and there was no way to correct errors or update the catalog.

We recovered the data, converted it to a modern, standard SQL database format, and then put it on the web. Now, researchers can search the data from anwhere, instantly. And Adler staff can vet suggestions from collaborators around the globe and update the catalog online.
