Redesigning Your Brand

As a fast-paced trading firm, JED Capital needs to attract new talent continuously. As part of this, their site needed a redesign that looked modern, to present a brand that looked young and exciting. Because of their in-house processes, they also had a requirement that their site must use Joomla!, a content management framework. We delivered a sleek, search-engine friendly Web 2.0 layout that met their needs.

Connecting with Customers on the Web

Finders Keepers: the Scavenger Hunt Company needed a way to reach out to prospective clients. As a small business in a quirky creative niche, with no storefront and a limited advertising budget, the web provided a perfect opportunity to attract customers searching for their specialized services.

Because it's a company all about entertainment, the business needed a visually exciting website. We designed a fun but functional layout incorporating JavaScript callouts, stylized text, news, a contact form, and popout photo galleries to showcase their past events for future clients. At the same time, we made sure their site looks great across a wide variety of browsers and does well in search engine rankings.

A Virtual Storefront

Open Produce is a small, community-focused greengrocer in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood. Aesthetics are very important in their business, so they needed a website that looked and felt fresh and beautiful. But it also had to present basic information clearly and efficiently.

Since their business happens in a physical storefront, customers visiting the site mainly want basic information such as hours, store location and driving directions. We carefully laid out their site so that most customers could find this information easily, and also access extras such as a blog and Twitter feed.

  • Client-side JavaScript & Dynamic HTML
    • Moving elements and overlays

Visual callouts, dialogs, and drawer-style animations add variety to a basic site. Three-dimensional layouts with stacking, occluding elements can make your web-site jump off the screen.

    • Contact forms

Well-designed forms (controls and buttons) with dynamic input validation simplify user interaction.

  • Rich Visual Aspects
    • Web 2.0 look and feel

Sites focused on collaboration and information sharing often use the "Web 2.0 look", with rich shadows, buttons and boxes with rounded corners, and semi-transparent reflections.

    • Image rollovers

Images or text can light up when the user interacts with them.

  • Web Standards and Accessibility
