Servers
We prefer to develop and launch our projects on the GNU/Linux operating system running the Apache, Mongrel, or Passenger server software; our programmers have experience installing, configuring, and working with these technologies and can configure and administer your server if needed. If these technologies won’t work for your needs for whatever reason, just let us know, and we can work with you to launch your project on the server of your choice.
Pricing and Packages
- Fixed-price quotes
- Hourly contracts
- Monthly retainers
- Ongoing support
We can provide a fixed-price quote for a project with detailed specifications and a clear endpoint; when necessary, we work with our clients to turn their ideas into a set of specifications. Fixed-price contracts allow our clients to clearly budget both the time and cost of their projects. Most of our fixed-price contracts include one free month of bug fixes, text changes, and technical support after the project launch; we also work with our fixed-price clients to provide ongoing support, upgrades, and feature development either at an hourly rate or by pricing each new feature individually.
For projects with changing requirements, agile-style development, or open-ended specifications, we also provide ongoing hourly contracts. Hourly contracts allow our clients who are less sure about the direction or scope of their project to commission work as they think of it and to change requirements as needed; each month, they can commission as many or as few hours as they need or can afford, and they only pay for the hours we work.
For some clients, we charge a monthly retainer for ongoing technical support, maintenance, updates, and web production; this works well for clients who have a fairly consistent ongoing stream of work and want a technical team who can be on-call on a long-term basis to quickly update their website’s text, install a new plugin, or troubleshoot a technical issue.
