We’re big fans of free and open-source software here at Parallactic — why re-invent the wheel when other developers have already created effective wheels that we can freely copy, re-use, and customize?

WordPress is one of our favorite free tools for web development — with WordPress, we can get a brochure site up for a small business quickly and cheaply (ask us about our WordPress installation packages, with as much or as little customization as you need). Whenever we talk to small business owners looking to create a brochure website, we always recommend WordPress — between the many freely available professional designs and the ease of use for non-technical people to update the site, it’s a no-brainer.

We recently set up WordPress sites for a couple of our friends — Little Bits Toys, where non-technical employees are updating the site regularly with events and promotions, and Blueboard Signage, which needed to get its website up quickly as its founders started pitching their service at local business events. WordPress was clearly the best choice for both these businesses to get online, and we were happy to help them do it!
